Chocolate Lab Drawing

Alrighty, just to show you all that I'm not dead (to anyone who actually reads this...?), I am actually giving you a piece of art to look at. And yes I know, it's crappy photo quality, still just using my cell for now.

So some of you may be thinking, why a dog? Don't you only draw people? Well generally speaking yes I only draw people when drawing for fun, but if someone gives me a (realistic) request I will draw whatever it may be. So yes, I drew a dog because I'm getting paid to draw a dog. My phone made the picture look weird... I just looked at it again and it's bugging me >:(

Oh well. Drawn in graphite on heavyweight, 90 lb (250 gsm), 100% cotton, neutral-pH paper that is acid-free and chlorine-free. (If anyone actually wants the brand you can message me a request for it.) Just saying, I still adore this paper! It's so sturdy and amazing! Erases like a dream too.

Now, just a heads up, I will be working on two oil paintings within the next few weeks (might try an egg and oil emulsion but don't count on it ;]) so watch out for those if you'd like to see them... and in other news an eight year-old girl asked me to draw her a mermaid. And you know, I love mermaids... soooo, look for that as well XD

Rant le Numéro Trois

'Ello cookies :)

Well because I haven't posted art lately, I feel that a rant is in order. It'll have to be a bit of a quick one today, but believe me it's a good one. Doctor's offices. No I'm not ranting about needles and shots and cold stethoscopes, I'm ranting about waiting.

We've all had to wait in the doctor's office, and we all hate it. And it's not because of that screaming child in the other room. It's because they keep you waiting, forever. I'm not joking, I wait for a check-up for about 45 minutes, even when there's nobody else around! Then, after this doctor gives me a two minute check-up, she sends me on my merry way. What the hell?

Isn't it just fantastic when you forget to cancel an appointment and you get a call saying you've been charge $40 or something because "this time was set aside especially for you." If that's the case, when my appointment time is 3:30 how about you see me then instead of at 4:20. Thanks.

I just went to the dermatologist recently to have what they deemed a "medical mystery" on my hand (this weird white splotch on my palm) checked out. Yeah, maybe you should spend more time trying to figure out what said "medical mystery" is, before sending me away. I fear for my life (not really ;) ).

Well, that's all I got for today. I'll try to get some art up in the next few days, I'll be working on an oil painting soon so I might just post progress on that.

Update and Other News

Now some of you invisible/nonexistent readers out there may have been left wondering what has happened to me as of late. Well I can assure you, Iris did not die and this is not her ghost haunting her laptop. If that ever should happen though, I'd make sure to let ya'll know ;)

So no, I'm still very much alive, and very much busy. I haven't had the time (or motivation really) to post anything anywhere on any site. I'm serious, all I've done lately is creep on random blogs whilst wandering about the internet. Well that and watch Dane Cook on youtube, but we'll get to that later XD

The reason I've been busy lately is because I've had a crap-ton of shit to do. No joke. I kid you not, it's been ridiculous. Also, all muse regarding creativity for artwork has been stolen by some evil forces. Story there is that I have this 18x24 canvas that has been left untouched for a while now and all creative ideas are flowing into there. And the problem with that is that I'm waiting to get an easel from a friend and she keeps forgetting about it. So I wait for said easel with no other artistic muse. FUUUUUU- ;___;

Yes, sad. I know, I was there.... The rest of my time was attacked by classes, work, writing a script/storyboarding for this writing thing I won, friends, work, and this distracting thing called the internet. And if you're reading this thinking, "Hey Iris, I see you mentioned friends. Does this include a friend of the male gender or boyfriend of some sort?" This is how I respond:

Yeah. Not succeeding in that department as of late. But you know what, guys are assholes and I'm sick of them! At least... they are where I live........ forever alone........

Ahem... well back to that snippet before about Dane Cook. That man is hilarious! I suggest watching The Vicious Circle. Watched "cinematic adventures" with my mother (of all people) last week and nearly peed my pants. It was bad guys. Some things should just not be shared XDDD

Well that's all I have to say for now, watch out for another rant coming your way, and possibly some art if I can whip my muse into shape!

(*As a side note, I thought I'd share this: I bible thumped my friend today, and said, "You've just been hit with the word." XD )
(**Extra side note: The bible thumping I speak of is a literal definition, thumping someone on the forehead with a bible.)

Rant Number Two

Alright cookies, I figured it was just about time for another post, and because I currently have only artwork that is incomplete, I thought I'd type up another rant. And let me tell you, do I have something to rant about. Today's subject shall be, classrooms. But it's particularly the people inside the classrooms that I want to talk about.

I've been having this issue for weeks now, and lately it's gotten much worse. It's driving me up the wall bonkers because no matter what I seem to do, nothing works. People talking in class. Now my classes are generally small, maybe ten people maximum per class. So you can imagine my annoyance when I'm trying to listen to lectures, add to discussions, take notes, and learn, and all I hear is people yammering about Star Wars and Youtube.

I'm telling you, it's ridiculous. I understand if you've been to several classes in a row and need five minutes to gather yourself, but when you're schedule has been open for the past four hours, I expect you to sit your ass down in that chair and shut up! And no, don't be sitting on Facebook giggling over some stupid comment/picture, don't watch Youtube, don't play games. Close your laptop, look at your teacher, and learn something, because this is just ridiculous.

You're being so disrespectful, I just have no words to describe it. You're being disrespectful to the person trying to teach you, to your fellow peers, and your disrupting their learning. If you are going to talk, whisper so I don't have to hear you. Or better yet, leave the damn classroom. If you don't want to get anything out of the class, fine by me, but when you start disrupting my learning, I'm going to get pissed off.

And here's the best part, none of them do shit. None of them. I haven't seen one person this year actually turn something in on time (out of the ones who chat-chit the entire class). I'm about to have an aneurism. This shit has to stop. When I am discussing Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, and Pirsig's idea of quality, I don't want to hear your voice talking (as loud as you possibly can) about that Youtube video. Next time you do, I'm going to lose it. I won't hesitate to punch you in the face.

Thus ends today's rant. It felt good to get that off my chest. I'm sure I'll have some art to post up in the next few days.... maybe....
